Privacy policy

This policy covers the Guitar Upscale website, the web app and the Android app. They are made by Oleg Chibikov. Last updated 27 October 2026.

Data that stays on your device

Your settings, your songs, recordings, loops and strumming patterns are stored in your browser. They aren't sent to the server. Clear the site data in your browser to delete them.

The tuner uses the microphone only while the tuner is open. The sound is analysed on your device. It isn't recorded or sent anywhere.

Sign-in and purchases

You can use the app without an account. If you sign in with Patreon, the app receives your Patreon name, email, avatar and membership level. It uses them only to unlock the plan you pay for. A sign-in cookie keeps you signed in.

In the Android app, purchases go through Google Play. The app receives a purchase token from Google Play to check your plan. Payment details stay with Google.

Song search

When you search for a song online, the search words go through the Guitar Upscale server to Songsterr, BitMidi, GProTab and MidiWorld. The server doesn't keep them. Each site handles the request under its own privacy policy.

Analytics

The app uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which features people use. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects data such as your device type, browser, rough location and the pages you visit. You can block it with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.

Advertising

The lesson pages of this site may show ads from Google AdSense. The app screen itself shows no ads.

Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent before ad cookies are set.

Children

Guitar Upscale isn't aimed at children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect their personal data. If you think a child has given us personal data, write to the address below and it will be deleted.

Your rights

You can ask what personal data we hold about you, ask to correct it or ask to delete it. Write to ochibikov@gmail.com.
