About the Aeolian + Dorian scale
The notes are root, 2nd, flat 3rd, 4th, 5th, flat 6th, 6th and flat 7th.
The 6th gives the bright Dorian colour. The flat 6th brings back the darker natural minor, often as a major chord on the flat 6th.
Many songs switch between the two from one chord to the next. Play the 6th over the IV chord and the flat 6th over the bVI chord.
